On July 3rd and 4th, 2015, over twenty members of Ngāi Tahu collaborated with KIWA Digital at Ōtākou Marae for an intensive two day workshop - writing, illustrating and recording their stories to create the interactive digital book you are holding now.
Voiced in Te Reo Māori as well as English, the stories are uniquely Ngāi Tahu, and touch on the themes of Ngāi Tahu’s ancestral migration, resource protection through environmental sustainability, education and language revitalisation.
Supported by Ngāi Tahu songs, prayers and well known sayings which are discoverable through touching the images, this app is the product of focus, determination and teamwork.
